Dan Malloy is the former longest serving Mayor in Stamford, Connecticut's history. He is running for governor in 2010.
This body of work represents my views on some of the most important issues facing the state of Connecticut today. It's not all-inclusive - there are certainly important issues that I don't talk about here - but it's a good start. I'll be adding more to what's here, as well as posting some additional issues, as time goes on. And I'll be making issue-specific proposals as well.
For each issue I've laid out the nature of the problem we face, my track record as Mayor of Stamford, and what I'll do at the state level as Governor of Connecticut.
Why put this out now? Because it's important that this campaign be one of ideas. I've spent a lot of time over the past few years thinking about these issues, talking to people who have some really smart ideas that should be on the table for discussion, and trying to figure out how we can fix what's broken while preserving what works.
The issues we're confronting are serious, our problems are real, and the people of Connecticut should know as much as possible about the records of each candidate on key issues, our experiences managing government, and the philosophies that guide our thinking.
This year, we need more than 30 and 60 second TV ads, talking points, and soundbites. We need a real debate.
It's in that spirit that I offer up the contents of these pages.
I've created a feature where you can join in this effort with me by submitting your thoughts and feedback to the campaign. This allows us to come together in implementing the strongest ideas for our state and creating an organic platform built not just by a candidate, but in conjunction with the people of Connecticut.
I thank you for taking the time to read it, think about it, and provide your feedback.
