July 15, 2010 – Dan Malloy, the Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate for Governor, today accepted the formal endorsement of CEUI/SEIU Local 511 in his bid to become Connecticut's next governor.
CEUI represents more than 7,000 active and retired workers throughout Connecticut.
Malloy said he was gratified for CEUI’s vote of support.
“The unfortunate truth is that Connecticut workers, including the members of CEUI, haven’t been given the respect they deserve,” said Malloy. “Rather than looking to them as a partner in getting our economy back on track, recent Governors have chosen to ignore their input and their interests. I didn’t use that kind of top-down leadership when I was Mayor, and I won’t do it as Governor. I thank CEUI for its endorsement, and I promise to be a partner to them as Governor.”
Earlier this week Malloy was endorsed by CSEA/SEIU Local 2001, and has also been endorsed by SEIU Locals 1199 and 32BJ. Other announced labor support for his campaign includes AFSCME Council 15, the Communication Workers of America Local 1298, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478, the New London Police Union (AFSCME Local 724), the Hartford Police Union, the Waterbury Police Union Local 1237, the Carpenters Local 210 and the Connecticut Police and Fire Union (CPFU).
