June 17, 2010 – The Dan Malloy for Governor Campaign today announced that it has begun airing its first TV ad on stations across the state. The 30-second ad, which focuses on Malloy’s upbringing in an average, working-class family in Stamford and the values he holds as a result, it can be viewed here.
Campaign Manager Dan Kelly said that the ad’s goal is to “introduce Dan Malloy to voters who might not know him yet – but soon will – and to tell them a little about his life experiences and how they’ve shaped his values and his perspective.”
“It’s clear that Dan does well with the voters who know him, and it’s also clear that when people hear about him for the first time and then learn more, they gravitate to him pretty quickly,” said Kelly. “In 2006, Dan only had about 3 weeks to communicate on television. This time he’ll have about 7. We believe that will make the difference.”
Kelly went on to say that, since Malloy has qualified for the state’s landmark public financing program, he has “the unique ability to finance a robust campaign without spending time holed up in an office dialing for dollars – Dan will be on the road day in and day out talking directly with voters.”
“Dan’s campaign is built on the grassroots support of more than 4,000 individual contributors – and it’s thanks to their small-donor contributions that we’ll have the resources to compete and win, in August and in November,” continued Kelly. “Being the first gubernatorial campaign to ever qualify for the Citizens’ Elections Program, we’ll now have access to up to $8.5M for this campaign. We’ll spend the vast amount of that money communicating directly with Connecticut voters about who Dan Malloy is, why his experience uniquely qualifies him to be Governor, and what his ideas are for creating a better, brighter future for Connecticut.”
