WALLINGFORD – The Wallingford Democratic Town Committee and numerous local political leaders are supporting former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy to be Connecticut’s next governor, should Malloy decide to run. Malloy said he was “deeply thankful for the support” and vowed to act as a partner with Wallingford should he become Governor.
In addition to the Wallingford DTC, the list of individual political leaders from Wallingford announcing their support includes:
Ø Democratic Town Committee Chairman Vincent Avallone:
“I’m supporting Dan Malloy because Connecticut needs someone with a track record of accomplishment. As Mayor of Stamford Dan created thousands of new jobs and deliver balanced budgets year after year. If we want to turn our state economy around, we need someone with the right experience and the know-how to be ready the get things done on day one in office.”
Ø State Representative Mary Fritz (90th Assembly District):
“In my mind Dan is the right man for the job. He understands how government operates and he knows how to get the job done.”
Ø State Representatives Mary Mushinsky (85th Assembly District):
“Dan Malloy has used his strong management skills and intelligence to modernize the City of Stamford and make the quality of life more sustainable. He forced the city to be more efficient with less money and recourses and he’s exactly the type of person we need as governor in tough times.”
Ø Democratic Town Committee Secretary Samuel Carmody:
“As a young person, I am very concerned about the availability of jobs and affordable housing in Connecticut. Because of a lack of jobs and the high cost of living, I’ve seen many people my age leave this state. Dan Malloy not only has the right plan to tackle these problems, but he has already proven to be a leader on these issues. As mayor he built more affordable housing than any other city in the state and created thousands of jobs. Dan has proven himself a competent leader and that’s why I’m very excited to support him.”
Ø Town Councilor John Sullivan:
“I officially endorse Dan Malloy for governor of the state of Connecticut. My reason: Dan Malloy has proposed a strategy that will put Connecticut back to work, improve our infrastructure, and make a college education affordable for our children. Dan represents every working man and woman in Connecticut, he understands the struggles we face each day, and will work tirelessly to foster a positive change. He knows that personal property taxes can’t continue to be the state’s primary source of revenue, and he understands that we need to grow jobs in the bio-medical and green technologies that will create the jobs of tomorrow. Mr. Malloy is a proven commodity that successfully managed the city of Stamford for fourteen years.”
Ø Town Council Minority Leader Vincent Testa:
“It will be great for the State of Connecticut to have someone with such extensive and successful executive experience in the governor’s seat.”
